Fair Housing

Last updated: 6 November 2026

Equal housing for everyone

GuamConnect follows Fair Housing law. No listing, screening criterion, or landlord may discriminate on the basis of race, colour, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), national origin, familial status, or disability. Guam law adds further protections — including on the basis of age, marital status, and place of birth.

What this means for landlords

Apply your screening criteria the same way to every applicant. Criteria about income, rental history, and references are allowed when applied consistently — but they must not be used as a cover for discrimination. Statements like “no children”, “no [group]”, or “Christians only” are not allowed and will be removed.

What this means for renters

If a listing or a landlord discriminates against you, report the listing from its page. Reports go to our moderation queue, and discriminatory listings are removed.

Reasonable accommodations

Tenants with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations and reasonable modifications. Landlords should consider such requests in good faith and in line with the law.

Where to get help

If you believe you have experienced housing discrimination, you can file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or with the Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority (GHURA). GuamConnect is a listing platform only and cannot give legal advice.
